Glasswall’s Steve Roberts secures Maiden win in Porsche Sprint Challenge GB Championship

The final three rounds of the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB Championship took place at Donington Park at the weekend, which saw some extremely exciting racing across all the events.

After qualifying 4th in what was Steve’s first full wet session in the car, race 1 saw him drop back to 6th after a poor start. However, he fought back to 2nd position at the flag, after a few robust over-taking moves, in what was the most exciting race of the season in terms of position changes. Unfortunately, a post-race time penalty for track limits meant Steve was relegated to 4th position in the results.

Steve started race 2 of the weekend in P3, and quickly moved into 2nd position on the opening lap. A race-long battle with the newly-crowned champion, Harry Foster, eventually saw Steve come out on top and achieve his first win in the Porsche category!

The final race of the season again saw a hard-fought battle for the lead between Steve and Foster, with Steve just missing out on a second victory by 0.2 seconds.

All this meant that Steve ended the year a very respectable 3rd position in the final championship standings.

“What a great way to finish the season” Steve commented after the weekend. “I am overjoyed to achieve my objective of getting a race win this year in the Porsches, and the fact we managed 3rd overall in the championship really shows our consistency and improvement in pace, especially throughout the second half of the season. I can’t thank Team Redline Racing, Glasswall, Absolute Agency and all my family and friends enough for the support throughout the season. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the 2023 season brings, and already can’t wait to get started!”.
