At Glasswall, we prioritize user experience just as highly as we do research and innovation. In today's digital age, user experience (UX) plays a pivotal role in the success of any product. We're proud to share how our UX team has revolutionized our products, elevating them to new heights of usability and functionality. Join us as we delve into the behind-the-scenes process of transforming user feedback into tangible enhancements and discover how our commitment to user-centric design is shaping the future of cybersecurity solutions.
Meet the team
Our dedicated UX team at Glasswall consists of Remlee Green, our Director of User Experience, and Alyssa Jones, our talented UX Designer and Accessibility Expert. Together, they have spearheaded numerous initiatives to enhance our product's usability and user experience. Their collaborative efforts and user-centric design approach have been instrumental in transforming our products, ensuring they are intuitive, accessible, and impactful for our customers.
User-centric design
Our UX team follows an iterative user-centred design approach, constantly testing and refining ideas based on real user feedback. This cycle of continuous improvement ensures that our products not only perform their core functions of neutralizing file-based malware, but also evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our users.
Our design philosophy revolves around creating intuitive interfaces that require no documentation. Through thoughtful design and the inclusion of contextual help, we aim to make our products as user-friendly as possible. Our research methods, which include interviews and usability testing with specific customers and targeted audiences on platforms like usertesting.com, provide us with invaluable insights. These insights are shared across the Glasswall team, ensuring that the needs of our customers remain at the forefront of our development process.
Accessibility
Accessibility is also a key focus for us. We adhere to WCAG level AA standards, which allows our products to be accessible for all users. This commitment to inclusivity not only broadens our user base but also emphasizes our dedication to creating equitable technology solutions.
Usability testing
A recent round of usability testing for our products has garnered highly positive feedback, affirming the success of our UX efforts, which we are excited to share below.
Glasswall Halo
Testers praised the interface for its intuitiveness, ease of navigation, and the helpfulness of instructional tooltips. One Senior IT Director remarked, “This feels like the kind of site that large corporations or governments would use. Feels premium in terms of pricing and support given."
Another tester highlighted the clarity and trustworthiness of the design, saying, “You can understand what everything means without having to search for it. That makes me trust the website."
Additional comments emphasized the clean, well-designed interface that inspires confidence and reduces user tension.
Let's take a moment to review how usability testing has improved our key features: the Reporting, Processed Files, and Policy Settings pages – each one now offers valuable insights and functionality to help you manage and reduce risk effectively.
Reporting
This page ensures all information is actionable, helping you reduce risk over time. It highlights the impressive scale and speed of our file processing, making it a vital resource. Based on feedback, we're adding export and filtering features soon so users can easily share reports with colleagues.
Processed files
We've redesigned the Processed Files page for greater intuitiveness. User consultations have ensured the data clearly explains file actions and upcoming enhancements include improved filtering, search, and export features to streamline your workflow.
Policy settings
Our Policy settings page helps users reduce risk while supporting daily business needs. Usability testing has refined the language, eliminating the need for documentation to navigate these settings effectively.
Glasswall Meteor
Our easy-to-install desktop application, Glasswall Meteor, has also seen enhancements following usability testing.
Welcome page
We introduced a new feature that allows files to be cleaned by syncing folders, automatically processing files as they are added. To ensure users are aware of this feature and the two methods for protecting files, we added a Welcome page to the user interface. Research showed that users understood the purpose of this page, with one user describing the sync setup process as "easy to understand and intuitive."
View results
We've enhanced our messaging for unprocessed files, offering insights and actionable information to our users. Sometimes, files cannot be processed for various reasons, many of which users can address. Research revealed that users want to understand these reasons, so we've refined our messages to be more informative and helpful.
Conclusion
Thanks to the dedicated work of Glasswall’s UX team, these iterative improvements ensure that our products continue to meet and exceed user expectations. By embracing user-centric design, adhering to accessibility standards, and conducting thorough user testing, we've forged a strong connection with our customers. This ensures that our solutions are not only effective but also intuitive and inclusive. Experience the difference for yourself by taking our Glasswall Product Tour today.
